Wireless Hotspots

Electron Technical Services Limited are a UK company established in 1988 to provide infrastructure solutions to business.

Electron’s core businesses are wire and wireless technologies and projects have been delivered from relatively small structured cabling installations to projects in excess of £1M with complex design criteria.

Electron have partnered with Mayflex and Purplepatch to sell and support wireless ‘Hotspot’ technology to both the business and public sectors of the community. Initially this will involve work in the UK with other countries to follow.

Three divisions have been created to address these Internet solutions, which are: -

  • Transport Under the banner of transNET
  • Hotels/Leisure Under the banner of leisureNET
  • Retail Under the banner of browseNET

According to Gartner Dataquest Projections the number of public WiFi Hotspots will swell past 16,000 by 2008, up from virtually zero in 2001 and yet the technology has still many many different areas of growth.

Electron are looking to install Hotspots in new and varied locations such as trains, plains and ferries as well as the ‘usual’ locations such as Hotel lobby’s and Cafés/Restaurants.

The new few years will see an explosion in Internet mobility. New technology coupled with new applications will create many new possibilities.

People with capable computers and PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistants) can increasingly tap into their workplaces via virtual private networks, use email and surf the web from virtually anywhere anytime.
